TPRM vehicle

A TPRM vehicle (Transport of Persons with Reduced Mobility) is a vehicle that can transport people in wheelchairs. If there are vehicles to transport several people and in which you can place up to 6 wheelchairs, some are suitable for individuals with an accessible place for the disabled.

 

These vehicles must comply with certain safety rules and are often modular to adapt to the needs of users. Also some vehicles have removable seats while others have retractable and folding seats.

 

There are station wagon type vehicles that are high enough to transport a child in a wheelchair. There are also rear-lowered or fully lowered vehicles. In some vehicles, the wheelchair can even be positioned in the front passenger seat. To allow the wheelchair to access the interior of the vehicle, the latter is equipped with a ramp. This meets certain standards in terms of size and height to facilitate the ascent and secure the person with reduced mobility. For more comfort, some vehicles lower at the rear for a perfectly adapted height. This version exists in manual or automatic system.

 

For the safety of passengers in wheelchairs, the wheelchair-accessible vehicle must be equipped with an anchoring system for wheelchairs. Thus, it is completely fixed and will not risk moving during the journey. You also need a restraint system through the use of a belt or harness. This installation meets very specific standards to ensure the safety of the person in a wheelchair.
